About me

This coming weekend, I am volunteering as a teacher to elementary students, along with the other volunteers. We are going to teach the kids about the wild birds in town and how some of them are already endangered. I am assigned in the story-telling part, where I need to find a good material to read. I am thinking what book can closely portray our advocacies as bird conservationists. There's the one written by Roald Dahl called The Magic Finger, which teaches a family why it is not cool to shoot birds. But that story lacks of nature appreciation. I know that best approach for the kids would be to make them appreciate our biodiversity so in turn, they become part of protecting it.

I am already tempted to write my own book about birds, especially the ones found only in our state, the endemics as we call them. I can make the story simple, but with a deep and piercing message, the one that targets our emotional intelligence. I can already imagine what to write. I also want to make it possible for me to demonstrate various bird calls and later on teach them how to do it. I have a month to do this and writing the story should not be so hard because I used to write the best essays in school. I may be accustomed in paper writing but thank goodness, I also know how to draw.
